Having a Pergola on your patio can be the perfect adornment for those who want to add some extra space to their garden. The amazing thing is that they non only provide protection against sun but they also offer style and comfort. Many people have started to use their patios in the warmer weather and so, the pergola patios became their summer oasis.
Did you also know that pergolas were initially used as walk ways?
If you intend to buy a pergola you should initially think about it's placement in your garden, and also how you will install it. Of course, you should also think of the material that matches best with the mood of the area where you will place it.
So, why build a pergola? The absence of walls and a roof allow a pergola to define any outdoor space without actually constraining it.
It's a unique architectural marriage that places you both inside and outside at the same time, and it's just the thing to bring your backyard landscaping to life.
Pergolas used to be common features of Italian Renaissance gardens, often serving as walkways or grape arbors. Essentially, the same design can be used to define a passageway or frame a focal point in your yard even today.
Add a climbing plant such as ivy, wisteria or, yes, even grapevines, and your pergola will provide some color and shade as well.

We wanted to thank you for the fantastic garden you have created from the wilderness that was at the front and back of our home. You and your team have easily exceeded our expectations and indeed our high hopes.
Although we have the easy maintenance space that we wanted, the back garden is now a stunning area that we actually want to spend as much time in as possible. The front was a neglected mess and is now complimented by all our neighbours!
Your team worked tirelessly, regardless of the weather and with professionalism in the face of space obstacles. They were courteous to all our neighbours and left everywhere tidy at the end of each day.
Our new rockery is perfect and the ideal spot for Nathan the ninja gnome!!! A masterpiece of engineering and patience! It is set off perfectly against Mitch's immaculately laid Indian Stone landscaping, not to mention your eye for colour in the final planting.
I apologise if this all seems very effusive but we are so happy with our new outdoor space that we want to make sure you realise how pleased we are and we would be more than willing to show off your hardwork to any prospective clients.
Just wanted to put down a few lines to let you know how happy we are with the awesome gardens you have created for us.
From the first visit we were put at ease, you have managed to take our ideas of what we wished for and transform the neglected gardens into something we could never have hoped for.
Mitch and yourself both need special mention for their tireless commitment to detail. The Indian stone throughout looks amazing, the front drive especially is a sight to behold. The rockery at the rear is now known as the chill corner. The rising garden had always been difficult to manage but your sensitive use of hard landscaping and wonderful planting choice has created a garden that looks fitting for a magazine whilst keeping the maintenance to a minimum.
All of your lads working on the job showed such a professional attitude, the neighbours have commented on how polite and accommodating they were.
The obvious pressure and stress of having major garden surgery was kept to a minimum, the changes we asked for during the work were incorporated without complaint.
To sum up, we believe we have the best garden we could have. We are already enjoying the new space you have created for us. We would not hesitate to recommend you to anyone and offer our garden, should a new client need any comfort blanket.
Thanks again from Mr D
